Using PayTo®

What is PayTo®?

PayTo is a fast, secure way to pay directly from your bank account.
When you choose PayTo, carsales sends a PayTo agreement to your banking app. You’ll be asked to approve it before a one-time transfer is made.
It’s similar to direct debit, but faster and fully controlled by you.

 

How do I use PayTo

  1. Select PayTo

  2. Select your bank

  3. Enter the PayID or BSB/ Acc details of your bank account

  4. Access the payment PayTo agreement in your banking app or online banking to authorise the payment

Your deposit usually arrives within seconds* and is held by a secure third-party service. If your bank has transfer limits, you may need to increase your daily limit first.

 

Where can I find my PayTo agreement?

To authorise your PayTo agreement, you’ll need to find it in your banking app. Each bank displays PayTo agreements in a different location.

How much does it cost to use PayTo?

We don’t charge any fees to use PayTo.

 

Why can’t I create a PayTo agreement?

This can happen for a few common reasons:

  • Your bank doesn’t support PayTo yet;

  • Your account type isn’t eligible for PayTo; or

  • The payment amount exceeds your bank’s allowed limit.

If you’re still having trouble, contact your bank for support.

 

What if my bank doesn’t support PayTo?

If PayTo isn’t available with your bank, you won’t be able to use it to add funds or pay a deposit. 

You can still add funds or pay a deposit using:

  • PayID, or

  • A BSB and account number transfer

 

Why am I getting an error with PayTo?

Errors may be caused by daily transaction limits set by your bank.

We are currently aware of PayTo limits at the following banks that may affect your payment:

  • Bankwest – $5,000

  • Qudos Bank – $5,000

  • Great Southern Bank - $5,000

  • Qudos Bank - $5,000

  • IMB Bank - $5,000

 

What can I do if my bank’s PayTo limit is too low?

If your bank's PayTo limit is preventing your payment from going through, you can

  • Try using PayTo with a different bank account, or

  • Select a different payment method
