What is carsales trade-In?

Step 1: Find a Car Eligible for Trade-In

  1. Go to carsales.com.au and start searching for your next car.
  2. Apply the carsales Trade-In filter to see cars enrolled in the program.
  3. Look for listings with the Trade-In banner—these are eligible.

Step 2: Get Your Trade-In Price

  1. Click on an eligible car listing.
  2. Enter your current car details:
    1. Registration and state
    2. Odometer reading
    3. Car condition[RM1] 
  3. If your car is eligible[AA2]  (as some cars won’t be eligible for carsales trade-in), carsales will instantly calculate your upfront trade-in offer.*

Step 3: See Your Estimated. Changeover Price

  1. Your trade-in offer will be applied to the new car price.*
  2. Example: New car $55,890 →Trade in offer → $18,500,  Est. Changeover price $37,395.

Step 4: Send Your Enquiry

  • If you’re happy with the deal, click Contact Dealer.
  • We’ll include your trade-in details with the enquiry.
  • You can continue browsing other eligible cars using your trade-in offer

What Happens Next?

  • The dealer receives your enquiry along with your trade-in details.
  • They will contact you to arrange the next steps which are:
    • Arrange a time to test drive the new car
    • Confirming your vehicle details, conditions and trade-in offer via an inspection
    • Finalise the new car purchase with trade-in offer applied
