How to extend the Virtual phone number on your ad

A Virtual phone number is an exclusive service offered by carsales to help you keep your personal number private when selling. If Virtual phone number is included as part of your Ultimate Ad or you choose to purchase it as an add-on, your private number will be hidden on your ad completely and it will be replaced with a virtual phone number. 

Any potential buyer that rings the virtual number displayed on your ad will be redirected to the number you’ve provided us with, without the caller ever seeing your private number.  

The Virtual phone number is included in our Ultimate Ad and can also be purchased for an additional $19 to add on any Standard or Premium Ad. Once it’s added to your ad, you’ll get unlimited use of the Virtual phone number for 45 days. You can read the full Virtual phone number Terms & Conditions here. 

Below we have outlined the step-by-step process to purchase or extend the Virtual phone number on your ad: 

To purchase or extend the Virtual phone number on your ad - Desktop

1. Sign in to your carsales account or hover the mouse over your name in the top right corner and select ‘Manage Ads’ from the drop-down menu  
   
2. Select the ad you’d like to add the Virtual phone number to and click Manage ad 
   
3. Next click on the ad enhancement tab and click the Learn more button on the Virtual phone number tile 
4. You’ll then see a Virtual phone number pop up where you can purchase or extend the Virtual phone number on your ad 
   
   
   

To purchase or extend the Virtual phone number on your ad - carsales App & Mobile

1. Open the carsales app and select the ‘Account’ tab located in the bottom right corner 
2. Sign in to your account (if you haven’t already) 
3. Tap the ‘Sell’ tab located at the bottom of your screen 
4. Then select ‘Manage my ad’ 
5. Within the ad you’d like to manage, select the ‘Enhancements’ tab and tap ‘Learn more’ within the Virtual phone number tile  
6. Check that the contact number listed is where you’d like the Virtual phone number service to redirect buyer calls or update it 
7. Tap the ‘Buy for $19' button 
8. Choose a payment option, complete the steps and hit ‘Pay and publish ad’
