Why can I only see "Enquire for Price"/ "Log in for price" on cars listed for sale?

At carsales, the privacy and security of our users’ information are paramount considerations in everything we do.

Our strategy to display “Login for price” or “Enquire for price” to a very small percentage of website visitors has been in place for some time. This involved limiting website content visibility for users accessing our site from certain networks where their activity on our websites appears to be suspicious. As well as the sale price, we also removed seller contact details and other data points regularly used in scam and phishing attempts against buyers and sellers.

Our goal remains to protect our customers and their information from bot attacks and potential unauthorised parties exploiting our platform.

If you see “Login for price” we invite you to log in to carsales.com.au. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can use one of several free email services, such as Gmail, Hotmail, or Apple iCloud’s Hide My Email. We do not need to identify you personally for you to browse our network, so you do not need to use your real name. In this scenario, the only reason we need you to log in is so that we can distinguish between your legitimate activities, and the activities that are triggering the block.

We are committed to providing a safe and trusted platform for our customers and we continuously strive to enhance our platform’s security measures.

If you are having trouble accessing our website or have been blocked, it may be the result of our systems identifying your IP address as suspicious. See possible reasons below:

Corporate or shared networks

The IP address you are using to access carsales could potentially be a part of a botnet that is scraping carsales to obtain proprietary or personal data. This identification is based off behaviours such as, but not limited to, making requests to our services that cannot be made through our consumer-facing websites, making attempts to hit non-consumer-facing services directly, or making requests to consumer-facing services at unexpectedly high volumes. This does not mean you have been doing this, but if you happen to access our site/apps from one of those networks, it could be the reason why.

For the safety of our customers, we are obliged to limit or block access to our services when these behaviours such as this are detected from a network.

If you are on a shared or corporate network, we would recommend you connect to a different network (if available) or report this issue to your IT department or systems administrator for further investigation. Otherwise, please contact your ISP for further investigation.

Ad blockers or extensions

Extensions on your browsers, such as ad blockers, can interfere with the data sent in requests to carsales and make them appear less genuine.

If you are seeing “Enquire for Price” please ensure that any ad blockers on your device, or on other devices on your network accessing carsales, are turned off.

The carsales website only accepts enquiries from customers in Australia - if you're overseas, we cannot approve your enquiry, provide the listing price or seller's contact details for security reasons.
