carsales members are able to communicate with each other via their accounts. This is a great way to keep all of your communication between a buyer and seller in one place and is able to be viewed anywhere, anytime.
Missing a message?
If you received a notification that you’ve received a message but can’t find it, you may be signed in to the wrong account, or the message may have been removed by our Trust & Safety team due to suspicious activity by the sender.

Viewing and replying to messages on desktop
- Sign into your carsales account
- Hover the mouse over your name in the top right corner and select Messages from the drop down menu.
- Enquiries you have made and received are kept separate, you can flick between the two inboxes by clicking on the Buying and Selling tabs located at the top of your inbox.
- To respond to a message, select the one you wish to answer from the list on the left side of the page and then click into the text box at the bottom to begin typing.
- Once you’re finished composing your message, click the send button.
Messages now include ‘Read’ receipts to let you know when the other party has seen your message.

- Sign into your carsales account (if you haven’t already)
- Go to the carsales App and select the inbox tab located at the bottom of your screen.
- Next, select the Messages tab at the top, this will show you all enquiries you have made and received.
