How do I find a carsales SELECT car?

You’ll be able to spot a carsales SELECT car by looking out for the carsales SELECT badge on a dealer’s advertised listing.

 

Are all cars eligible for carsales SELECT?

No. All carsales SELECT cars are used or demo vehicles, for sale by a licensed dealer, have less than 120,000km on the odometer, have undergone a vehicle inspection, and must meet carsales’ competitive pricing standard.

 

How does the refundable reservation work?

Found your perfect car? Great! Lock it in ahead of other buyers with a fully refundable $500 reservation payment collected by carsales.†† Once we receive your reservation, your car and pre-negotiated price will be locked in for 2 business days while you finalise your purchase with the dealer.§ The dealer will then deduct the $500 reservation amount from your final purchase payment.

If you decide not to purchase the car, you can request a full refund of your reservation payment from carsales.

What happens if I’ve reserved a car but can’t complete my purchase before the reservation period ends?

If you would like to buy the car but are not able to complete your purchase within 2 business days, talk to the dealer about whether they are able to extend your reservation period.§ If that’s not possible, then your reservation will expire at the end of 2 business days, and you’ll be eligible for a full refund of the reservation payment.††

 

How do I request a refund of my reservation payment?

How long will a refund of my reservation payment take?

Once we’ve confirmed your refund with you, please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to reach you. Please note we can only provide a refund back to the same card or bank account you used to make the original reservation payment.

 

Can I still buy a carsales SELECT car without reserving it?

Yes, you can. Please just note that without reserving a SELECT car through carsales, we can’t guarantee your pre-negotiated price and you won’t be eligible for the carsales SELECT 7-day money-back guarantee.

 

How does the 7-day money back guarantee work?

You have 7 days from the date of vehicle collection to return your SELECT car to the dealer. To return the car, it will need to be in the same condition as when you purchased it, and you can’t have driven it more than 500km. Once you return your car, you’ll receive a full refund of the purchase price, your $500 reservation payment and any stamp duty and government transfer fees incurred as part of your original purchase.
